Rock 4 Choice at The Hollywood Palladium Friday January 23rd 2004
Rat Sound Systems Inc. was proud to support Rock For Choice this past Friday evening, which took place at the Hollywood Palladium. An all acoustic show, the line up saw Lisa Loeb, Ben Harper, Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow with introductions made by Britany Murphy, Laura Dern and Ellen DeGeneres. For this benefit, they all used a Rat Sound PA... We chose to employ our Rat Trap 5 System, hung in a 3 x 3 configuration and complemented by 12 Rat Dual 18" subwoofers. The system was controlled by a new Klark Teknik DN9848 digital system crossover which provided eq, crossover, time alignment, and limiting all in one 4 in 8 out package. FOH was rounded out by a Midas XL4 console with processing by Drawmer, BSS, Yamaha, Eventide, and TC Electronics. Monitor duties on this show fell to another proven Rat combination; the MicroWedge 12's and a Midas Heritage 3000 Console. The MicroWedge's were chosen for their compact size and unbeatable flat performance. BSS Outboard gear and Shure PSM700 In-Ears rounded out the package. Rock for Choice, founded by the all female punk rock band L7 and the feminist majority in 1991, uses rock musicians to educate young men and women nationwide about getting registered to vote and taking action to protect their fundamental freedom of choices - in this case, particularly the human right to reproductive choice, which is currently under threat. Past musicians supporting the cause have included Pearl Jam, Hole, David Byrne, Iggy Pop and the Foo Fighters. The
whole event was well rehearsed and subtle considering the subject
matter; not preaching but reinforcing that every person can make a
difference if they get out and vote. Get out and vote this November
for a candidate that will help protect this right!
