Rat Sound was really proud to be asked to provide production for the "Stand Up for Skateparks" benefit on Sunday 3rd October in Studio City, CA. A charity event, to benefit the Tony Hawk Foundation, to raise money to help build skateparks in low income communities: It was an honor and a pleasure to be a part of this fantastic way to keep kids off the streets and give them a healthy, athletic opportunity to play and skateboard in a safe, organised environment! Thank you to Mike Richter for doing an awesome job for Rat sound in covering production.

Tony Hawk and event co-chairs: Sean Penn, David Spade, Bobby Kotick (CEO, Activision), Bob McKnight (CEO, Quiksilver), Casey Wasserman (CEO, Wasserman Media Group) John Lewicki (Sports Marketing Director, McDonalds), and the William Morris Agency hosted the first 'Stand Up for Skateparks Benefit' (Hawk's Inaugural Charity Event to Help Build Skateparks in Low-Income Communities) at PINZ Bowling Alley, in Studio City, CA.

The 'Stand Up for Skateparks' benefit was a unique family event that included a skateboard demonstration with pro skaters Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Shaun White, Andy MacDonald and Lincoln Ueda. Blink-182 performed along with a line up of A-list comedians headlined by David Spade, games, arts and crafts, and live and silent auctions. With tickets starting at $500 and auction items going for over $50,000, it was definitely a star studded event with celebs such as Pamela Anderson and Benicio del Torro. You can also see additional auction items available at www.hawktion.com

"My plan is to make the Stand Up for Skateparks an annual event to raise money and awareness for the Foundation, so that we can continue to help create these skateparks where skateboarders can practice, socialize, build confidence and just be kids." says Hawk. "We focus on low-income communities where skateboarders do not yet have a public skatepark."

There are currently nearly 12 million skateboarders and only 1,000 skateparks nationally so The Tony Hawk Foundation seeks to foster lasting improvements in society, with an emphasis on helping children. Through grants and other charitable donations, the Foundation supports programs focusing on the creation of high-quality public skate parks across the country, giving kids a safe place to socialize and skate. Since its inception in 2002, the Foundation has given away over $900,000 to more than 230 communities throughout the United States. www.tonyhawkfoundation.org
