For all those people that give me a hard time for having a big analog console, check out the size of this control surface! Goo news is we are doing a gig in an old power generating plant in former east Berlin. The bad news is I am fairly certain that when they designed this place they may have come up a bit shy on creating an optimum acoustic environment.
Finally get to use my Fluke thermal imaging camera to monitor audience and room temperatures. A nice warm room makes for a great rock show. Too hot and people pass out and complain, not necessarily in that order. To cold and it feel all isolated and people don’t take off their coats and make themselves at home for the party.
Yard sale in the sky. Either that or the stage right PA for Peppers’ arena show #1 rocking Budapest. If you looking close you should see 50 boxes plus power.
Arena gigs, here we come. Stage right 48 of the 50 flown brown boxes awaiting lift off. A pair of flown ARCs for center fill not shown. That’ll make an even 100 up and 36 subs on the deck for what should offer a substantial amount of clean clear coverage at premium sound levels.
The important parts of my day today
Last band of the last day on the last festival they’ll play for 2016 with Chili Peppers rocking Leeds
Reading Festival, brown boxes and 10s of thousands of my very best friends all hanging out to see the Chili Peppers.
It’s an odd feeling hearing a fellow touring human has died
It’s an odd feeling hearing a fellow touring human has died. Spending so much time together and then days or years before a few minutes or months of hanging out again. And then one day comes where they just stop showing up for lobby call, ever again Over 30 years ago I met Monty Lee Wilkes when Black Flag played the 1st Ave in Minneapolis. Here was a brief bit where he was mixing Mars Volta opening for Peppers and if you read the back you’ll see why he always wore that radio station shirt. Monte was a fascinating friend that will be so much missed Oh the stories he has to tell are endless http://www.ratsound.com/cblog/archives/2006/11/05.html
