A road case is a protective container often having wheels that is utilized to safely (hopefully) transport various pieces of equipment on tour. A well designed road case will take into account the internal dimensions of the trucks and containers used to haul the equipment.

The most common road case is the ATA style case.

Less common and though lighter weight, the cardboard road case is often used but exhibits serious drawbacks in wear and tear, water resistance and equipment protection. A broken cardboard road case is often fixable by using gaffer tape.
