Hello Mike,

Lets see, here are some answers for you:

: Hi Mr Rat
: Looking for new wedges, and have questions on your Microwedge.
: How does it compare sonically to the Clair 12AM? Either the 12 or the 15" version.

The Clair 12am and L'Acoustics L115 were used as models from which the MicroWedge had to be clearly superior not only sonically but in every way possible. Side by side with the 12am's the MicroWedges are clearly louder, more stable and require less EQ to reach those volumes with every mic we used to test. If anyone else out there has some info they want to add, please post.

: What is the speaker angle on both models?

27 degrees.

: Is using a DSP necessary or could I get away with using the many 24X6 w/ amcB pip cards that I already have?

You can run them with no processing or fully processed with excellent results either way. I have posted the processor setting on the microwedge.com web site. You can program those settings into any processor you wish. You will find that even with no processor the sound quality and stability is quite impressive and by looking at the processor settings you can get a good idea of a starting point if you are just using 1/3 octaves and x-overs.

What would that do to the sonic quality?

One of the key focuses of the MicroWedge design is to 'not be processor dependant' and have the wedges sound great with very little or no EQ. One big issue we have noticed in monitor systems over the years is the time it takes to EQ the wedges and after EQing them it is very frustratingly difficult to get all the mixes to sound the same using 1/3 octave EQ's. The MicroWedges come up in real world situations flat, loud and stable.

: Thanks for your time in this
: Mike

Thank You and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. Would love to hear back with opinions from anyone using the MicroWedges.

Dave Rat
