For liability reasons, you probably won't get a response here from the Rats about buiding one on your own. I will say that Furman has recently introduced some nice compact out of the box distros that will give you more then enough circuits. Your only issue at that point would be to get enough feeder to tie into the panel, which needs to be done by an electrician. Depending on who you get to do it, it's not that expensive. To suggest you can do it on your own would not be wise.
As far as feeder goes, I'd get enough SO type feeder, at least 6/4 size, to go from one side of a given venue to the other. You never know where the panel might be at a given venue. This should allow more then enough current for backline, some PAR can lights, and a small to medium PA. I'd have at least 100' on hand. I keep around 200', broken into 3 sections with Hubble heavy duty twist lock connectors, and one set 10' tails for the tie in.
Cheers,
Greg
: help! my band just did a show at a large club that was wired soley on 10 amp circuits. could you please provide some advice on the design and construction of an ac distribution system where i could tie in to the main panel and break out four separate circuits??? thanks.
