: Dave,
: I am from edmonton canada. I am looking into buying a new console for this church i do work at. They have a pretty big budget. So i was thinking big. Like 4k or H3000. I am very biased to the Yam. 4K, b/c it is all i use. What is your take on the 4K. Pros/Cons. I used a H3000 once. I really liked it. Can you give me your take on this subject of choosing a 4k or a midas.
: Thanks for your time Dave.

Both are excellent consoles and should serve well for years to come.
Here are some aspects of each, as I see them, that may help in your decision:
The 4K is easier to operate/understand for less experienced engineers.
Our 4K's have been more reliable than our H3000's though we do move them around alot.
The 4K is less expensive.
The H3000 offers more control/features. The push on, push off, lighted aux group sends on the H3000 are very useful, especially with the global "stereo, dual mono, group assign" feature.
The H3000 is more impressive looking.
Both consoles offer adequate sound quality that exceeds the quality of most speaker systems.
The Midas is a newer console and may have a bit longer "accepatability" period than the 4K. Depending, of course, on the application.
4K's can be purchased at a very resonable price used right now and it may be worth considering having a used one cleaned and re-fadered.
If you are purchasing new, the Midas should hold value a bit better as used 4K's are becoming very abundant while the H3000 seems remain a national touring standard.
