I love my Rat subs. Haven't measured the SPL, but for my small rig they more than adequate. Hope to own more soon with some Rat tops to go with them. They're wired parallel internally for a 4 Ohm load. I drive them with a Crest 7001, dual mono. The Crest is limited with the Dominator. The way Rat wires there subs normally, is series wiring for the drivers, and up to 4 boxes wired parallel into a bridged 7001. Either wiring nets about the same power, but the bridge mode gives you about one 1dB more power. Stereo/dual mono could too if you invert polarity of one channel on input and output. I chose to parallel wire the boxes for now, in case I rent the subs to others with different amp configurations, where a 16 ohm sub is not desired.

I can't speak for Dave, but from past conversations, I would take a guess that he's not yet a fan of class D amps. Hence the current usage of old school heavy Crest & Crown amps. I am curious to see how the I-Tech Crowns work though. Lots of juice and DSP options with those.

Cheers,
Greg

: Greg,

: I noticed on your website that you are using the Rat Subs. How do you like them? What is the max peak SPL? I would like to hear about the way you have them set up. I wonder if Dave has any plans for digital powered cabinets that include processing. They have some really nice products comming out and i.e. Meyer will no longer offer cabinets that are not powered. The industry is really changing.

: Al
