Dual 18"/dual 15"/dual 10"/1" Triamp w/ subs on an auxiliary send (~1987)
We put in bigger 1" horns and added the trap angle on
one side. This system was also based on a vertical line array
and could be stacked two boxes wide, horns together. The line
array qualities offered better volume consistency throughout the venue.
When you were up close to the PA, you heard one box as you went farther
back you would hear more boxes working together and the coupling would
help counteract the volume drop that occurs with distance. At the
time we were doing quite a few shows in a outdoor amphitheater in
Hollywood. We began taking measurements of the SPL through out
the venue with this system and also when other touring production
came in. True to line array theory, this system demonstrated
unequaled volume consistency throughout the venue. A mere 6db
drop in volume from the front row to the back of the venue vs. a 12db
to 18db on other non line array systems.
