: What would happen if I were to open my cabinet(2 18" speakers)and take the positive from one speaker to the negative of the other, and then the negative to the positive, and having them connected the right way from the outside. Isn't there a name for doing this? I think it's called parallel something. Wouldn't this make the speakers hit a lot harder?
Pretty much the hook up you describe is not a good idea. You are getting 'series parallel' wiring a bit confused. Series parallel involves usually 4 speakers and is used in marshal guitar cabs to get an 8 ohm load from 4 8ohm speakers.
If you give me a call next week I will go over your setup and help you optimize it.
